How many times have you just been driving and WHAM someone cuts you off! Instant ROAD RAGE! You can chose to ignore it and just drive on as if nothing happened or you can give into ROAD RAGE!  Police stated late Saturday night, 05/27/17, A 21-year-old man  fatally stabbed a fellow motorist during a road rage incident on the Taconic State Parkway in Westchester. Police charged him with manslaughter.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., state police responded to a reported stabbing on the Taconic in the Town of Mount Pleasant. Police discovered28-year-old Daniel Siino of Hartsdale in a vehicle with stab wounds. The investigation revealed that the victim had engaged in a road rage incident with Christian A. Walczyk, 21, of Pleasant Valley in Dutchess County, police said.

The incident turned physical and Walczyk stabbed Siino in the chest, according to police. Siino returned to his vehicle and his passenger drove him to the hospital while he called 911. EMS and state troopers  located and rendered aid to Siino.   He was pronounced dead Westchester Medical Center.

Walczyk, who also left the scene and called 911 was located nearby and taken into custody without incident. Police charged Walczyk with one count of manslaughter in the first degree, a Class B felony, arraigned in the Town of Mount Pleasant Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail.

This is yet another avoidable road rage tragedy.  When you take our online class you will learn skills to avoid Road Rage incidents.  Here are some quick tips:

1) Move over if someone is tailgating you

2) Use an “I’m sorry” gesture to attempt to defuse the situation

3) Plan ahead; allow time for delays during your journey

4) Consider whether you’ve done something to annoy the other driver and adjust your driving accordingly

5) Listen to music you enjoy (if this happens to be angry death metal you might want to rethink that!)

6) Use your horn sparingly (it really is only supposed to be for warning danger to other drivers not your annoyance or anger!)

7) Avoid eye contact with angry drivers and give them plenty of room
