Let the Thanksgiving Festivities Begin! Thanksgiving Traffic is on the rise!
One thing is for sure this holiday weekend, Thanks giving Traffic! Nearly 55 million Americans are expected to hit the road this Thanksgiving holiday, a 2.9% increase from last year. The 2019 holiday weekend is expected to see the second-highest travel volume, falling second only to an all-time record set back in 2005.
The vast majority of those travelers are expected to drive: 49.3 million, compared to 4.45 million people traveling by air. Some 1.9 million people are expected to travel on either rail, bus, or other modes of transportation.

The prediction is that WEDNESDAY will be the worst day to travel for Thanksgiving Traffic.
Everyone has the same idea. “I know we’ll leave early to beat the traffic!” NOPE! INRIX, in collaboration with AAA, predicts major delays throughout the week, peaking Wednesday with trips taking as much four times longer as commuters mix with travelers. So make sure you pack SNACKS and WATER!

Bottom line? If you have to leave on Wednesday, try to be on the road before noon, prior to the mid-to-late afternoon crunch. Ideally leave Monday if you can.
Tips and Tricks for dealing with Thanksgiving Traffic
Make sure you bring snacks! There is nothing worse then being in traffic and being hungry or thirsty. Traveling with kids? Snacks, Games and Tablets are your best friend! Make sure you have enough to keep them occupied an then some. There is nothing worse than the dreaded “Are we there yet!?” from the back seat. Listen to soothing music or something that makes you happy. Remember you can’t control the traffic but you can control your reactions to it!
