The USA is a big place but believe it or not some cities are worse then others in terms of driving. Here is a list of the top 10 worst cities for traffic jams:

1. Los Angeles, CA:
Average commute during worst driving hours: 71 percent longer than normal to complete on a Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
The 20.7-mile stretch on the Riverside Freeway between Costa Mesa Freeway and McKinley Street is the most congested piece of road in the area. The route, which usually takes 20 minutes to complete with no traffic, takes 57 minutes during rush hour and can even take up to 81 minutes on Friday between 4 and 5 p.m.

2. New York, NY:
Average commute during worst driving hours: 47 percent longer than normal to complete at 5:15 p.m on Friday.
New York is well known for its congestion. For example, there’s the 12.3 mile route on the Cross Bronx Expressway between Exit 13 and Hudson Terrace, which is considered most congested stretch of road in the region. The 13-minute ride during hours with no traffic can take up to 43 minutes during rush hour and may take over an hour on Friday afternoon.

3. Chicago, IL:
Average commute during worst driving hours: 41 percent longer than normal on Friday at 5:15 p.m.
The Windy City’s most congested route is the nearly 16-mile stretch on the Dan Ryan Expressway between I-294 and Exit 52B. The route, which usually takes 17 minutes with no traffic, can take on average 49 minutes during rush hour and up to 72 minutes Friday evenings.

4. Washington DC:
Average commute during worst driving hours: 51 percent longer than normal on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
The most congested stretch of road outside the nation’s capital is on I-95 between I-395 and Exit 148. The 23.9-mile route, which usually takes 23 minutes, can take up to 52 minutes during rush hour and even up to 86 minutes during Friday evening.

5. Dallas, TX:
Average commute during worst driving hours: 36 percent longer than normal on a Friday at 5:15 p.m.
This southern city has a few roadways with bad commutes, but none worse than the route on the North Freeway from Exit 49B to Exit 58. This 9.5-mile stretch usually takes nine minutes to complete with no traffic, but can take on average 24 minutes during rush hour and up to 37 minutes on Friday evenings.

6. San Francisco, CA
Average commute during worst driving hours: 63 percent longer on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
The commute in this city goes from bad to worse on the California Delta Highway between Hillcrest Avenue and Somersville Road. The 3-mile trip, which usually takes three minutes to complete with no traffic, can take 11 minutes during rush hour and up to 17 minutes Wednesday morning.

7. Houston, TX
Average commute during worst driving hours: 33 percent longer on Friday at 5:15 p.m.
This other Texas city isn’t as congested as Dallas, but it makes the cut due to trips like the commute on US-59 between Buffalo Speedway and I-45. This 4.8-mile stretch or road, which usually takes five minutes to complete with no traffic, can take up to 14 minutes during rush hour and 24 minutes on Friday afternoon.

8. Boston, MA
Average commute during worst driving hours: 33 percent longer on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
This Bay State city is at its worst on I-93 between Exit 5 and Exit 15. This 10.4-mile stretch of road usually takes 10 minutes to complete with no traffic, but can take 29 minutes during rush hour and even up to 38 minutes Wednesday mornings.

9. Philadelphia, PA
Average commute during worst driving hours: 29 percent longer on Friday at 5:15 p.m.
This city’s commute is worst on the Schuylkill Expressway between Exit 347 and Exit 338. This 9.5-mile stretch of road usually takes 10 minutes to complete with no traffic, but can take 23 minutes during rush hour and up to 36 minutes on Friday afternoons.

10. Seattle, WA
Average commute during worst driving hours: 49 percent longer on Thursday at 5:15 p.m.
This northwest city’s traffic is at its worst on I-405 Southbound between Exit 14 and Exit 10. Normally this 4.5-mile trip takes five minutes to complete with no traffic, but can take 13 minutes during rush hour and 18 minutes Thursday evenings.
