Driving in Heavy Rain

If you have to drive in heavy rain SLOW DOWN and take your time! It’s not a race. On wet roads it takes longer to stop because of the lack of friction. Increasing your speed takes you longer to stop. When you put these things together it is a recipe for disaster.

When Its Wet Give More Space

Like I mentioned in the above paragraph stopping can be hazardous in the rain so you need to give more space than normal. Tailgating is a definite NO NO all the time but especially when it’s raining. So SLOW DOWN, Give more space so that you don’t cause an accident.

Raining? Turn Your Headlights On!

Did you know that it’s the law in NY State that if your wipers are on your headlights need to be on! I often notice as I’m driving in a storm, people with no lights on and it rives me crazy! It is easier to see other cars in rainy weather when their lights are on. This seems to be common sense to most people so please turn them on! Oh the other thing people do is drive with their hazard lights on. DO NOT DO THIS! This is actually distracting and illegal. So just turn your headlights on.

When Its Raining, Use Your Wipers!

DUH…..but you’d be surprised. It’s important to check your wipers. Have you ever noticed that sometimes they leave a greasy film when it’s raining. That’s because they need replacing! Depending on the climate you live in you should replace them every 3-6 months.

If It’s Raining don’t drive unless you have to

Like I said in the beginning if the weather is that bad just stay home! Unless you absolutely have to don’t put yourself and other at risk! Stay tuned to this blog spot for more cool info and as always, DRIVE SAFE!
