Warwick NY Police reported that 2 students were killed, and 2 are clinging to life, in a drivers ed vehicle when it was struck by a tractor trailer On July 14th. The car approached a flashing red light and the driver attempted to make a left hand turn. Preliminary reports show that the driver hesitated for an unknown reason and the tractor trailer was unable to stop. The truck wasn’t pulling a trailer and the lack of weight on the rear wheels reportedly made it difficult for it to stop so suddenly.

The 60-year-old instructor, Julio Angleto, an employee of the Decat Driving School of Middletown, was taken to Orange County Medical Center for treatment, along with the truck driver, August Harlacher, 61, an employee of Non-Stop Transport of Port Jervis.

The truck hit the rear driver’s-side door of the car at an intersection in Warwick. Two other teenagers in the back seat, Antonio Baglivo and Paul VanDoran, were killed. The driver, 16-year-old Claudia Krebs, and a 61-year-old driving instructor were injured. State Police have said that”… looking at the truck, it hardly even looks like it was in an accident.” There have been no charges filed in the crash. The investigation is ongoing. Authorities are looking at the intersection for possible problems.
