No? Well if you haven’t you should have! The Real ID Act of 2005 modifies U.S. federal law pertaining to security, authentication, and issuance procedures standards for state driver’s licenses.  Simply put this means that you need to get a new drivers license by Oct 2020.

Drivers Licenses aren’t just for driving!

Think about it.  When you buy alcohol, cigarettes, try to get a library card you need your ID! When you try to get on an airplane you need your ID. If you don’t have a valid passport or an enhanced drivers license (EDL) As of Oct 1 st, 2020 you will need a Real ID.  The DMV suggests that anyone renewing or getting a license for the first time get a one and beat the rush!  For more information about

REAL ID is available at DMV offices statewide.

The cost is the same as a standard license, which is now marked Not for Federal Purposes. It will require a trip to the DMV to get a photo taken and present the required documents. To ensure you have all the documents you need before your visit, DMV has

So remember the Real ID
